A Message From the President of Local 2067
Political Editorial - Butch Crawford, Union President

October 1, 2008 - I was asked the other day at Station 1 by one of our members why we endorse a Democrat for the Oklahoma House of Representatives. My response was that my commitment to the job as Union President was to uphold the contract and support those that are helping to protect the benefits which have our "Locals" best interest in mind.

That being said there will always be a struggle between voting for your benefits/wages and the issues we all are concerned with as Firefighters; not to mention, how your moral conscience leads us to vote on any political platform ideology.

The most important issue is to get out and vote; however you feel about the issues! If we exercise that basic right in which all Americans enjoy, we all win because we all participate. When I enter that Ballot box I will vote personally for what is most important to me and my family, but whomever wins this election whether it be Democrat or Republican I sincerely Hope they do well and I will support them because we are ultimately in the same Boat!

So should we hope to sink or hope to float? I believe that only through bi-partisan cooperation can we achieve our goals especially those issues important to all Firefighters locally and nationally. I will always have my personal opinion but as Unions Political Representatives we stay committed to do what is mandated by the membership and defend our Rights.
