Station #5 Drinking Water Grievance
UPDATE: To date, the drinking water is being managed via the City purchasing bottled drinking water for the living quarters in the Station. It continues to be monitored and equipment is being examined that after installation, would help to curb the potential risk in drinking the water.
February 7, 2005 - The living conditions at Fire Station #5 have become unsafe for the Firefighters due to the bacteria levels in their "water supply". Firefighters at station #5 have been told possible solutions to this issue by the water quality people that advised them not to use the water. This is a clear change in working conditions and a safety issue to the Firefighters at station #5 and left as is violates the current collective bargaining agreement Article 6 section 2 and section 3. February 18, 2005 - This issue is presently being addressed and this grievance is considered "dropped" until such time warrants further action in relation to the grievance process.
